Asian Eyelid Surgery
As we age, the delicate skin around the eyes begins to sag and wrinkle. To correct this, Dr. Joseph Mele offers upper and lower eyelid procedures. During eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), Dr. Mele will remove excess skin, fat and muscle from the eyelids to rejuvenate and reshape them. The skin is tightened as the incision is sutured. When performing Asian Blepharoplasty, Dr. Mele is able to enhance the appearance of the eyes, restore a youthful look, and in some cases, improve vision.

The Asian Blepharoplasty Videos below review the details specific to the anatomy and correction of Asian eyelids, as opposed to Occidental blepharoplasty. Many Asian Eyelid Surgery frequently asked questions are discussed and answered. Asian Blepharoplasty Before and After Pictures are also provided to illustrate what Plastic Surgery can do. The Goals Of Asian Eyelid Surgery
Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery is used to enhance the appearance of the eyes. The eyes are two of the most prominent features of the face. Together with the lips, the eyes are the features primarily responsible for facial beauty. Excess upper eyelid skin distracts from the eyes’ beauty. Additionally, when the eyelid skin sags in front of the pupil, it interferes with vision. Droopy eyelid skin and wrinkles add additional years to the face, and often make us appear tired, even when we are well rested. In order to rejuvenate and refresh your facial appearance, you may want to consider Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery.
Asian Blepharoplasty Before and After Pictures
In the Asian Blepharoplasty Before and After Pictures above, this patient has an indistinct upper eyelid fold due to weak and low attachments between the eyelid skin and the tarsus, the tough anatomic support for the edge of the eyelid. This is demonstrated in the pre-operative photo above as a sagging upper eyelid with a fold that does not extend to the edge of the eye opening. This poor attachment allows the lid to droop and block her upward and lateral gaze. The after photo shows that her eye is much more visible. She now has an elevated, smooth arching eye opening, supported naturally. Dr. Mele has created a distinct eyelid fold by forming new eyelid skin to tarsus attachments. As the result of her Asian Eyelid Surgery, this patient now appears more alert and awake in addition to having a more youthful appearance.
Bay Area Plastic Surgeon Joseph A. Mele, MD, FACS often performs eyelid surgery to reduce the appearance of “tired-looking” eyes. If you are interested in Facial Rejuvenation due to sagging skin on the upper eyelids or bags on the lower eyelids, Dr. Mele can perform eyelid surgery (“Blepharoplasty”). Moreover, if you have Asian Eyelids, he has the training and experience required to rejuvenate the anatomy unique to the Asian Eye.
