Mini Tummy Tuck Before & After Pictures
Mini Tummy Tuck (Mini Abdominoplasty) is a smaller version of the Tummy Tuck. It cannot do everything that a full Abdominoplasty can do, but for the properly selected patient, sometimes it does everything that needs to be done. It is best described as a Tummy Tuck for the lower belly and is often combined with Liposuction. There are some plastic surgeons who feel that the Mini Abdominoplasty should never be done and that all patients should receive a full Abdominoplasty for the best possible results, but this is an extreme viewpoint. The Mini Tummy Tuck requires some compromise in expectations but can give very nice results if the procedure's limitations are understood and accepted. The main advantages are less discomfort, faster recovery and lower cost. The main disadvantage is that it cannot address problems above the umbilicus (belly button) like a real Tummy Tuck can. The addition of Tumescent Liposuction to the Mini Abdominoplasty does allow for some improvement in the upper abdomen, as long as the skin and muscles are tight.

A Guide To Mini Tummy Tuck Before And After Photos
Above is our gallery of our Mini Tummy Tuck Before and After Pictures. The before pictures are on the left, while the after pictures are on the right. All pictures are of actual patients who have had their plastic surgery by Dr. Joseph Mele, MD, FACS, at our San Francisco Bay Area plastic surgery center. While our Mini Abdominoplasty Before and After Photos can serve as a guide to what is possible with cosmetic surgery, your individual results will vary. Several examples of Mini Tummy Tuck Before and After Photos are explained below in more detail.
Mini Tummy Tuck Before And After Photos: Example 1
Mini Tummy Tuck Before and Afters: The Mini Tummy Tuck smooths the lower portion of the abdominal wall.
Before: This woman's upper abdominal wall is fit. Her lower abdominal wall has localized disproportionate fat, and the abdominal wall muscles are a bit lax allowing the abdominal contents to push out the lower belly. Her umbilicus (belly button) is also horizontally oriented with excessive hooding.
After: A Mini Tummy Tuck has tightened the lower abdominal muscles, tightened the lower abdominal skin and improved the shape of her umbilicus. Liposuction was also performed to remove the disproportionate fat and trim the waist. Since her upper abdominal wall was tight prior to surgery, the mini procedure worked well. If the upper abdominal wall had muscle laxity, or the upper abdominal skin was loose, a Tummy Tuck would have been the better option. An example of Full Tummy Tuck before and after pictures is given below for comparison.
Mini Tummy Tuck Before And After Photos: Example 2
Mini Tummy Tuck Before and Afters: Larger amounts of lower abdominal laxity and disproportionate fat are present in this example.
Before: This patient has a small amount of upper abdominal muscle laxity, but her primary problem is the lower abdomen. The lower abdominal bulge is a combination of lower abdominal wall muscle laxity and a disproportionate collection of fat. A small amount of upper abdominal laxity is also present prior to surgery. She plans to have children, so a full Tummy Tuck was not recommended at this time.
After: A Mini Abdominoplasty was performed to remove excess skin and disproportionate fat from the lower belly and tighten the muscle laxity in the lower abdomen. Liposuction was performed to remove excess fat from the upper abdomen and sides to further improve her results. Since she has a small amount of upper abdominal laxity prior to surgery, the lower abdomen was tightened to match. The upper abdominal wall cannot be tightened with a Mini Tummy Tuck, and over tightening the lower abdomen would further flatten the lower abdomen but would have caused an odd, disproportionate bulge of the upper abdomen.
Mini Tummy Tuck Before And After Photos: Example 3
Mini Tummy Tuck Before and Afters: This woman's trunk gets wider the lower you look. A combination of abdominal wall laxity and disproportionate fat of the lower abdomen, sides and back is the cause.
Before: This patient is not overweight, but she has genetically programmed lower abdominal muscle laxity and disproportionate fat collections on her lower belly, sides and lower back.
After: A Mini Tummy Tuck corrected the lower abdominal wall muscle laxity and removed the extra skin to further tighten the area. Then, Tumescent Liposuction was used to lipo-sculpt the disproportionate fat from the lower abdomen as well as her sides and lower back to give her more aesthetic, female proportions.
Mini Tummy Tuck Before And After Photos: Example 4
Mini Tummy Tuck Before and Afters: Sit-ups can only do so much after pregnancy.
Before: This patient is in great shape after having children. Unfortunately, her lower abdomen has taken a hit from childbirth. The muscles of her abdomen are rock hard, but the fascia (the tough case that contains the muscles) has been overstretched during pregnancy. The result is a disproportionate lower abdominal bulge. Note that the area above her umbilicus is completely flat, making her a good candidate for the Mini Abdominoplasty.
After: A Mini Tummy Tuck was performed to tighten the muscle fascia and flatten her lower belly. Liposuction was performed to further sculpt her results, restoring her pre-pregnancy form.
Full Tummy Tuck Before and After Pictures for Comparison
Full Tummy Tuck Before and Afters: Bigger problems require bigger hammers. In this case, a Full Tummy Tuck is shown for comparison.
Before: This woman also has children. Her before pictures reveal skin laxity above and below the umbilicus, muscle laxity above and below the umbilicus, disproportionate fat of the abdominal wall and distortion of the belly button itself. Because there are problems above and below the umbilicus, she is not a good candidate for a Mini Tummy Tuck.
After: The excess skin has been removed leaving the abdominal wall tight. The muscle laxity has been repaired leaving the abdominal wall flat. The belly button is the same, but its depth has been shortened, and the skin excess surrounding it has been reduced. The result is a happy patient with a tighter, flatter belly. How Is A Mini Tummy Tuck Done?
The Mini Tummy Tuck is an outpatient Cosmetic Plastic Surgery procedure. It is a combination of skin resection and liposuction that combines both the benefits and limitations of the two procedures. Advantages of a Mini Tummy Tuck include a faster recovery, a shorter procedure and a lower cost. Disadvantages, when compared to a Tummy Tuck, are inability to correct loose skin or muscle located above the umbilicus (belly button), smaller skin removal means fewer stretch marks can be removed ,and if weight gain occurs after a Mini Tummy Tuck, you are more likely to have disproportionate fat return to the lower portion of your belly. More Mini Tummy Tuck Information is available on our Mini Tummy Tuck Page.
